He Came to Us

He came to:

an elderly couple–a hesitant priest and his barren wife.

an innocent teenager and her gracious fiancé.

a bunch of unclean shepherds.

a murderous king and a group of wealthy, wise, star-seekers.

mothers weeping over their lost sons.

a spirit-filled man waiting with expectation and hope.

a worshipping widow.

a family who didn’t understand Him.

a townsfolk who thought He was crazy.

a prophetic, locust-eating cousin.

earthy, brash fishermen.

greedy, infamous, tax collectors.

a religious zealot–a man carried to extremes.

an embezzling treasurer and so-called friend.

women of means who followed Him and supported his ministry.

the elite scholars and religious leaders of the day, some upright and curious, others corrupt and bloodthirsty.

government officials fixated on their own welfare.

the diseased masses.

the hungry multitudes.

a young couple on their wedding day.

parents who sought His blessing for their children.

an impoverished widow who gave the temple all she had to live on.

a scorned, broken woman at a well.

a generous lady of the night with a bottle of expensive perfume.

a frightened, wayward women about to be stoned in the street.

a rich man in bondage to his things.

an eager hostess fussing over hospitality and her sister, a gal content to sit quietly and listen.

a friend in need of life-raising assistance.

a raving, wretched demoniac living in a cemetery.

foreigners with uncommon faith.

those who perjured themselves at His trial.

the military contingent that mocked and beat Him.

thieves dying on crosses of their own on either side of Him.

me.

you.

every soul that ever was, is, and is to be.

Be glad! He came to us!

What must we be worth that the God of all the universe would condescend to join us?

Take heart! Be of good cheer!

He came to us! He’s here!

He is with us!

He is with us!

He is with us!
