A Message for Winter

Winter is loitering

With no one to tell it to move along

The frost is still busy overnight tatting lace on my windshield

Sometimes there’s even a fresh skiff of snow

Makes me scowl to come out to my car and find that I must, once again, brush and scrape

Spring keeps nudging it

The sun’s rays intent on the melt

But winter isn’t budging

Stubborn, dirty patches, even mounds of the stuff lurk in the shadows to taunt us

And in the evening the chill I feel is unexpected

I hesitate at what to wear

My winter coat and boots are standing by

Why?

Why must you linger, winter?

Haven’t you had your moment to paint the world white?

Don’t you want to leave on a good note?

We’re fed up with you

Step aside and let spring do its work already

Take the hint and get!

And don’t come back until November

Sheesh

    1. Thanks much, my friend! Snow is expected here on Wednesday but it won’t stay. It’s finally starting to warm up and I’m so grateful! πŸ™‚
